Jenna Bush Hager has never shied away from sharing amusing and sometimes embarrassing moments with her Today show audience.

However, one recent revelation might top them all. During a candid conversation with her cohost Hoda Kotb,
Jenna recounted an incident that involved overstaying her welcome at Savannah Guthrie’s home
—so much so that her host’s husband, Mike Feldman, had to take drastic measures to signal it was time for her to leave.

The conversation kicked off with Jenna and Hoda discussing the subtle (and not-so-subtle) ways people try to get lingering guests to wrap up their visit.

“If you’re the last person at a party—which I have been—you might notice that people start dropping hints,”

Jenna admitted. “You know when the host starts cleaning up and people still don’t get it?”
Hoda chimed in, adding that some hosts go as far as washing dishes or making offhand remarks to encourage guests to head home.
That’s when Jenna recalled a particularly awkward moment at Savannah Guthrie’s home.
“Wait, did I ever tell you—oh, I hope I did because you’re going to love this,” Jenna said, laughing. “I was at Savannah’s house, and Mike Feldman wanted me to leave so badly, but instead of saying it outright, he just started vacuuming around my feet!”
Jenna eventually caught on, realizing that Mike’s silent but obvious message was his way of encouraging her to wrap up the visit. “He’s vacuuming so close to me that I finally had to say, ‘Mike, if you’re ready for me to go, just tell me. I’ll leave!’” she recalled.
Her confession left Hoda in stitches, prompting Jenna to joke, “If you stay too late, there are consequences.”

Reflecting on past experiences, Jenna added, “As my mother says, nothing good happens after midnight.” She admitted that late-night antics had even led to a couple of unfortunate dental mishaps. “I’ve lost two teeth that way—well, injured two teeth,” she clarified.
Jenna’s Open-Book Approach to Life
Jenna has long been known for her willingness to share personal anecdotes, making her a relatable and beloved figure on morning television. Her honesty extends beyond social mishaps, as she has also opened up about her journey as a mother.
During a previous episode of Today, Jenna recalled the moment she first became a mother and the surprising concern that crossed her mind.
“This is going to sound crazy, but I actually wondered if I could ever love anything as much as my cat, Bernadette,” she admitted. “I remember saying that to my friend Crystal. You can even call her and ask!”
Jenna explained that at the time, Crystal was her only friend who had both a child and a pet. “She had a cat named Killer, but she also had a child,” Jenna said. “She told me, ‘Jenna, your heart has room. But it’s hilarious that you even think your cat compares.’”

Hoda, amused by the story, responded, “That really says a lot about you and your cat relationships. I didn’t know it was like that.”
The discussion then turned to the experience of expanding one’s heart to love multiple children. Jenna asked Hoda, who adopted daughters Haley and Hope, whether she ever worried about having enough love to give.
Hoda reflected on her own experience, saying, “I wanted a child for so long that I didn’t have that fear initially. But what I’ve learned is that your heart’s ability to expand is beyond measure. There’s always room.”
She emphasized that love isn’t limited to just children but extends to other relationships as well. “If you want more love in your life, whether it’s another child, a puppy, or even a new friendship, your heart finds space,” she explained. “But I do believe that if someone feels truly tapped out, they should listen to that, too.”
