Laura Ingraham from Fox News received criticism for being called a “bad mother” when the true motivation behind her decision to adopt a Black daughter was revealed: “It wasn’t due to genuine affection!”

Hoda Kotb has opened up about her journey with breast cancer nearly two decades after her diagnosis, sharing how the experience shaped her but never defined her.

Speaking at the Runway for Recovery event, the former Today show host reflected on the moment she received the life-changing news

and the perspective she has gained over the years.

Kotb, now a celebrated journalist and TV personality, admitted that she never expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer. “I mean, there are people who are going to get breast cancer.

I didn’t think I was one of them,” she shared. “I ate apples, I ran in Central Park. I was like, ‘Me? How could it be me?’

When they called me, I thought they had the wrong person. I never did any of the things that would typically lead to this diagnosis, and yet, it came.”

Receiving a cancer diagnosis is a moment of profound uncertainty, and Kotb acknowledged the overwhelming emotions that come with it. However, she emphasized the importance of taking a moment to process the news before reacting. “The most important thing you can do when you receive a cancer diagnosis is to take a deep breath and slow down,” she advised.

She highlighted the significance of early detection and timely treatment, stating, “When it comes to breast cancer, it’s about getting it early, getting it out, and trying not to let it define you.”

Kotb has long been an advocate for resilience and finding strength in difficult times. She encouraged others facing similar battles to view their experience as something that can shape them but not consume their identity. “It can shape you, but if it defines you, then you will spend your life feeling a certain way,” she explained. “It’s about understanding that this is part of me, but it’s not all of me. It will change me, and I will be different now, but what you’ll find is that you’re braver, you’re more resilient.”

The award-winning journalist also recalled the fears and insecurities she faced after her diagnosis. “I remember thinking to myself, ‘Will I ever feel pretty in an outfit again? Will I ever feel comfortable? How will I look?’” she admitted. These questions, she noted, are ones that many breast cancer survivors grapple with, especially in the aftermath of treatment.

However, witnessing the strength and confidence of fellow survivors has been an inspiring experience for Kotb. “Watching what’s happening here today is extraordinary. It’s important,” she said, referencing the Runway for Recovery event, which celebrates breast cancer survivors and honors those lost to the disease.

Over the years, Kotb has used her platform to raise awareness about breast cancer, sharing her own story in the hope of inspiring others. Her message remains one of hope, resilience, and the determination to live life to the fullest despite the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis.

Kotb’s openness about her experience has resonated with many, as she continues to be a source of encouragement for those facing similar battles. Her story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of perseverance in the face of adversity.
