From 2001 to 2009, Jenna Bush Hager called the White House home while her father, George W. Bush, served as the 43rd President of the United States.

As expected, her time in one of the most famous residences in the world came with some unforgettable experiences.
One of the most intriguing details she has shared over the years is her Secret Service code name, a tradition given to all individuals under government protection.
Jenna Bush Hager’s Secret Service Code Name

During a 2020 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Hager revealed the nickname given to her by the Secret Service—”Twinkle.”

She embraced the name, saying, “I take that as a compliment.”

Years later, her code name made a surprising comeback. When Hager visited the White House with her colleagues from TODAY, she was greeted with a warm, yet unexpected, welcome.
“When we went back to the White House with the TODAY show peeps, we walked in and they were like, ‘Twinkle, welcome home,’ and everybody was like, ‘Twinkle?’” she recalled, laughing.
Hager wasn’t the only member of her family with a unique code name. Her twin sister, Barbara Bush, was given the name “Turquoise.” Each member of the presidential family is assigned a distinct name by the Secret Service, often chosen to reflect their personality or interests.
White House Stories and Secret Service Confessions

While discussing her White House memories, Cohen asked Hager about the possibility of any childhood crushes on Secret Service agents. She admitted that while she never had a crush on any of them, a close friend did take a liking to one particular agent.
“There was one that was very handsome,” she shared, “and I didn’t crush on him, but a best friend did.”
Of course, growing up in the White House came with its share of mishaps. Cohen jokingly asked if she had ever accidentally damaged anything important inside the presidential residence. While she assured him that nothing in the Oval Office had been harmed, she did confess to one minor accident upstairs.
“Not in the Oval Office, but upstairs in the house, yes, I stained something,” she admitted.

Jenna and Barbara Bush’s Upcoming Book Tour
In addition to reminiscing about her time in Washington, Hager is also preparing for a new adventure with her sister, Barbara Pierce Bush. The two are hitting the road to promote their latest book, I Loved You First, which has already become a New York Times bestseller.
The tour was announced during the December 9, 2024, episode of TODAY, and fans who want to see the sisters in person should start making plans.
Their book, which explores the deep bond between sisters, reflects on their personal experiences growing up in a high-profile political family while forging their own paths. Given their history in the public eye, the book is expected to offer an insightful look into their unique relationship and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.
