KSI, a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, shared details about the harmful things he did while struggling with depression, including being restrained.

KSI, the popular YouTube star and professional boxer, has made a significant impact since joining Britain’s Got Talent as a guest judge.

His addition to the panel has been a hit with viewers, drawing in an impressive 5.5 million audience members during his debut episode.

However, despite his widespread success in entertainment, boxing, and music, the 31-year-old has candidly revealed his struggles with mental health, particularly depression.

KSI’s Candid Discussion on Depression

While KSI—real name Olajide Olatunji—has built a thriving career, he has been open about his personal battles behind the scenes.

Speaking about his mental health, he admitted that there were times when he questioned his path, especially during the height of his fame.

Reflecting on a particularly tough period in 2017, KSI recalled taking a step back from social media to cope with his struggles. During that time, he deleted numerous tweets, YouTube videos, and Instagram posts, ultimately taking a six-to-seven-month hiatus from creating content. He described it as a personal crisis, explaining that he felt lost and unsure of whether he wanted to continue his career.

“I was just like, ‘I need to just leave the internet.’ I had a midlife crisis,” he admitted. “I was like, ‘Is this it? Is this my life? Am I just going to be doing this for the rest of my life?’”

Therapy as a Key to Understanding Himself

KSI has since taken proactive steps to work through his mental health challenges, including attending therapy sessions to help him understand his emotions. In a past interview, he compared his mental state to being adrift without control.

“I felt like I was on a boat and I didn’t have any paddles,” he shared. “I was just floating. I had all these things happening and all these people congratulating me, but I just felt empty.”

Despite achieving many of his dreams, KSI found himself struggling to enjoy his accomplishments. He realized that success alone wasn’t enough to bring him happiness and that he needed to find true fulfillment beyond fame and fortune.

KSI also acknowledged that there is often stigma surrounding therapy, but he believes seeking professional help has made a profound difference in his life. “I know there’s this stigma to therapy,” he admitted. “But I think it’s more of an understanding of your own mind—why you think the way that you think, why you are the way that you are.”

Maintaining Balance Through Therapy

KSI’s approach to therapy is not one of regular weekly sessions but rather attending when he feels the need for professional guidance. He has spoken about recognizing when he is not in the right mental space and seeking help before things spiral.

“Every now and then, it can happen. I can feel it’s coming, and then I’d go see a therapist, talk it out, figure out what I need,” he explained.

Rather than waiting until his mental health deteriorates significantly, he takes a proactive approach, booking sessions as needed. “Sometimes it could take a few weeks, a few months—it could take a week. Then I’m back to being me again,” he said.

A Bright Future in Television

Despite his past struggles, KSI is thriving in his new role on Britain’s Got Talent. His presence on the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli has been met with enthusiasm, and ITV executives are reportedly eager to secure him for future seasons.

The network is also considering signing Maya Jama for a high-profile role on The Masked Singer after her successful stint on the show. Insiders believe that both KSI and Maya could bring a fresh, youthful appeal to ITV’s top entertainment programs.

“ITV realizes they’ve got a pair of superstars shining on their shows—and they want to ensure they stay there,” a source revealed.

KSI’s massive social media following, with over 55 million followers across platforms, makes him a valuable asset to Britain’s Got Talent, particularly for drawing in a younger audience.

Looking Ahead

As KSI continues to make strides in television, music, and boxing, his honesty about mental health serves as an inspiration to many. His willingness to discuss his struggles demonstrates the importance of addressing mental well-being, even in the face of success.

For now, fans can look forward to seeing more of KSI on Britain’s Got Talent, where his unique perspective and charm have already won over audiences. With his career continuing to evolve, he remains a powerful voice in both entertainment and mental health awareness.
