Sarah Greene discloses that Roman Kemp is facing challenges with physical education, leading him to frequently make derogatory comments about participants on The Finish Line.

Exciting news for fans of the hit BBC One quiz show The Finish Line—Sarah Greene and Roman Kemp are officially returning for a third season.

The dynamic presenting duo is set to bring even more thrills, unexpected twists,

and competitive excitement to the popular game show.

Following the success of the second season, which introduced an extended track for added suspense,

the upcoming series promises another major change: the highly anticipated “supercharged end zone.”

According to Sarah Greene, this new feature will ramp up the intensity like never before. “You haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen our supercharged end zone,” she teased.

“It almost sets the studio alight as people are getting towards the finish line.”

A High-Speed Quiz Like No Other

The Finish Line has earned a reputation for its fast-paced nature, with contestants racing to answer questions as quickly as possible to stay in the game. Roman Kemp, who thrives on the adrenaline of hosting, revealed that this season will be the most rapid-fire yet. “I get through more questions this series than the last two put together!” he said.

Despite the pressure, Roman admits he enjoys watching players push themselves to the limit—even when they stumble. “You’re going to see a lot of people fail this season,” he confessed. “And there’s a sick part of me that quite enjoys seeing people set on victory and not make it.”

Sarah, however, finds joy in rooting for the underdogs. “It’s so compelling to see someone who comes in a little unsure of themselves,” she explained. “They might start out nervous, but then they shine because the questions fall in their favor. And that’s purely random.”

A Strong On-Screen Partnership

Sarah Greene and Roman Kemp’s chemistry has been a key factor in the show’s success. Their friendship off-screen translates into an effortless rapport on set. Sarah, now 66, is full of admiration for her co-host. “He’s heard me say this a hundred times over, but I do consider him my TV son,” she said warmly. “I’m there purely to look after him, and he looks after me too. He’s the only one I want.”

Roman, 32, shares her enthusiasm and feels lucky to be part of the show. “I would never do a show I don’t enjoy,” he admitted. “For quiz shows, getting to a third season is a big deal—so many don’t make it that far.”

Hilarious Behind-the-Scenes Moments

While the competition can be fierce, there’s no shortage of laughter on set. Sarah revealed that keeping a straight face is her biggest challenge. “Roman has a much better poker face than I do,” she laughed. “You can read my expressions from a mile off! I have to remind myself I’m pretending to be Richard Osman on Pointless. That’s where the acting skills come in.”

Contestants also bring their fair share of surprises. One memorable participant had an unusual reason for wanting to win. “He wanted to buy a goat because he couldn’t afford a lawnmower!” Sarah recalled. Another planned to bury the prize money and start their own treasure hunt in Edinburgh. “Someone made a game out of our game,” Roman joked.

Other moments were simply chaotic. One contestant, when asked a question about Winona Ryder, blurted out “Beetlejuice” three times—sending the studio into hysterics. “I’m a fan of the movies, so I just shouted, ‘Don’t say it three times!’” Roman said. “I completely messed up the timings of the show.”

Roman’s Quiz Show Redemption

Despite being a seasoned host, Roman has his own history with quiz shows—one that still haunts him. Years ago, he appeared on Million Pound Drop with his famous father, musician Martin Kemp, and made a costly mistake. “I once lost my dad a million pounds on Million Pound Drop,” he admitted. “It was peak Twitter, and I got absolutely slaughtered for it. I felt so stupid.”

That experience has influenced his approach to hosting The Finish Line. His goal is to ensure that contestants have fun, regardless of whether they win or lose. “I never want people to leave feeling bad,” he said. “It’s a game, and it should be enjoyed.”

What to Expect in Season Three

With an upgraded format, heart-racing competition, and the same electric chemistry between Sarah and Roman, the third season of The Finish Line is set to be the most exciting yet. Fans can look forward to high-stakes races, unexpected twists, and plenty of hilarious moments when the show returns.

Whether contestants are playing for life-changing goals or simply for the fun of it, one thing is certain—this season will have viewers on the edge of their seats.
